I had a problem with a 2009 Honda Civic and went in for a diagnosis. They performed a scan of the computer and took the car for a drive to see what the problem was. The conclusion was that the transmission was slipping and told me that it would need to be rebuild or replaced ($2.5k estimate). Before spending that much, I was able to change out the clutch pressure switches and it resolved the problem. It cost me $120 (Honda OEM parts) to do this and luckily I have enough experience to try this before spending all that money or scrapping the car. It’s disappointing that their diagnosis was to suggest the very expensive repair before trying to resolve the root cause and less expensive problem.
