Al's Auto Repair LLC

We are a father-son automotive repair shop that has serviced the community of Calumet City and the surrounding region for almost two decades.

Alberto Nova Gutierrez, the proud owner and master automotive technician of Al's Auto Repair, first opened his doors in the summer of 2005. Al received his certification as an auto technician from Lincoln Technical Institute in the late 90s. As a family man with five children, Al built this business from the ground up despite facing numerous obstacles.

Al has received multiple certificates over the years in training from ACDelco, Standard, and other automotive trainers.  Furthermore, Al is constantly receiving training in the newest and latest forms of automotives annually, as to stay up to date with new technological advancements in the automotive industry.

Al's youngest, Isaac/"Lil Al," looks to be the next generation to carry the business forward. He hopes to bring Al up to date with the times. "My father grew this business like a tree from the ground up. It has strong roots, embedded in a rich and wonderful community. However, Al has not changed the business that much over the years and I wish to see it grow even more." -Isaac

For our staff: Isaac who is the current employee of the month and service writer, we wish him a big raise in the future. Cesar, a beloved coworker and fantastic mechanic that was with us for over a decade, no longer works with us. We send him and his family our love, wishing him well. Lorenzo, has moved away. We hope it works out for him and his family, wishing him the best. A special thank you to all the staff that we have had over the years. For now, it seems, Al's Auto Repair will remain a small father-son shop servicing Calumet City and the surrounding Chicago land region.

How we operate: First come, First served! 8am-5:30pm Mon-Friday & 8am-4:30pm on Saturdays. We are closed on Sundays. We are a full service professional automotive repair shop. We do not give prices over the phone; if you want to talk shop, you have to be in the shop. Thank you for your patronage and understanding.

We offer a wide variety of full service jobs such as engine & transmission replacements, front end work, tire repair, shocks, struts, diagnostics, used tires & new tires, brakes, fuel pumps, tire sensor replacements, batteries, water pumps, alternators, radiators, air compressors, tune ups, mirror replacements, pulleys, wiper blades, complete oil changes, serpentine belts, wheel bearings, throttle bodies, heater cores & heater core flushing, A/C recharging, and other miscellaneous services. Unfortunately, we do not do wheel alignments, we do not do emissions, we do not rebuild engines, & we do not service BMWs, Audis, and German/European vehicles. Thank you and have a wonderful day.
