My go to spot for smog checks. I always call ahead to make sure they aren't busy before heading in. They get me in and out quickly and as a bonus they are less expensive than a lot of other smog shops.

sat in waiting room 10+ min just so a "regular" could walk in and yell, "where's Charlie?" then pull his truck in before me. got my keys back and left, fool me once....

I went in for fuel system service on my 1969 mustang. At first they were friendly and seemed to be knowledgeable about car repairs on a older model. Instead of replacing my tank (which should have been the only option), they suggested I have them crack it open clean it out then put it back on. I later learned that when you crack open a sealed fuel tank as old as mine, that seal will never seal up again. Sure enough, without them even testing this out they called me saying my vehicle is ready to be picked up... I then drive it off the lot, it was leaking fuel, and my fuel gage wasn’t working (new issues that I never had before the repair). I turn around and drive the car back. The owner “Charlie” said they can replace my tank and I’ll just cover the tanks cost, no big deal. He also tells me “the shop is full of cars, please take yours back home and we will call you to come back when the tank arrives....my car is still leaking fuel mind you.... I told him that isn’t a good idea OBVIOUSLY because I am leaking fuel DUDE. He eventually understood and decided to keep my car their until they can get the tank to replace. They eventually get the tank and fuel sending unit “fuel gage” to fix the issues. They make the repairs and I get it back, and of course now I have oil drippings all over my classic cars roof and hood, plus, I have a fuel cap that had its chain connected to my cars body broken off. The fuel cap with the broken chain wouldn’t have been a big deal if they would have told me and offered to replace it since they are the ones who broke it off when replacing fuel tank. Charlie, the owner, then says he can replace the fuel cap just give them time to get it in..... it’s been a month and I have never heard back from this owner Charlie at Charlie’s smog. This was the most unprofessional service I have ever very experienced in any form of service needed. Not only did they do a terrible job of servicing my vehicle, but they lied to me and did not care for my car at all since they left oil drippings and a broken fuel cap that they never mentioned. If you are on the fence about going to Charlie’s smog I would take the next best option, even if it costs you more money. Even if you are with “U-haul” which they service a ton of their vehicles, I WOULD NOT USE THEM TO SERVICE MY U-HAUL TRUCK. They are this unprofessional and the deceit enraged me like no other.

Charlie's front office reception was professional, friendly,. Charlie's kept us informed of the progress of status of the repair, which was appreciated. My expedience resulted with an impression of a friendly personnel, reliable and above all honest... Having 7 vehicles in our fleet, I will definitely take our vehicles to Charlie's for repair..
