A year and 26,000 miles ago, the mechanic Joe looked at my tires, said they looked worn, and recommended replacing all of them, and I went ahead with it. Today, when I came in to have a blow out fixed, he said they were all worn and it would be a good idea to replace them before winter. When I pointed out we had replaced them last year and that if they were that worn down, there was a problem, he said we could just replace the front two, to keep the treads balanced. I said okay, but I wanted to know why the back tires were so worn when they were only at the half life of their warranty. He said they weren't that bad. Anyway, point here is I'm not sure what the heck was going on. Joe is probably my neighbor--Quabbin Auto is five minutes from me. The car has run fine the two years he's worked on it. But, it sure seemed like he was trying to get me to replace tires that didn't need replacing, and when I started asking questions, he backpedalled. I'm female and not super knowledgeable about cars, so I'm sure I look like a great mark. Possibly I misinterpreted what he said about the tires, but I was paying close attention, and I wouldn't be comfortable going back to this shop. Looks like everyone else has had a way better experience, so really hope this is just an isolated incident and a misunderstanding on my part.
